Get Content For Your Site
Chapter 1: Setting up your Website
Section 8: Get Content For Your Site
There is kind of a chicken-and-egg problem in all of this: you want to start a successful, useful, content rich site to help attract as many business partners and customers to you. But, you don’t know too much when you are just starting out!
I believe this is the number one reason why so many people fail. And I’m not just talking in MLM or online marketing, although the failure rates in these industries is staggering. I’m talking about EVERYTHING. People just don’t take the time to learn the skills and abilities they need to if not master then at least become proficient and effective with in order to become successful.
Hopefully, you are getting the picture that there is plenty to learn and apply before the true, residual riches are going to come. Personally, I’m excited to learn new skills and gain new abilities that I can use to help other people become successful. And, hopefully, you are too!
Now, please don’t think you have to master all of the topics in this website in order to become successful. NO ONE is a master at all of these things. What you need to do is become EFFECTIVE in using SOME of these topics and techniques. Have you ever heard of the 80/20 rule (that 80% of results come from 20% of the people or 20% of your efforts)? If so, then realize this is a good thing that will work in your favor. If you learn the right 20% of the things to learn, you can accomplish 80% of the results.
The trick is getting the right 20%, and that is exactly what this website is all about.
Another key to all of this is that if you have a fair amount of things to learn, if you are not applying it and working with it shortly after learning it, you will quickly start to forget it.
Combining these two ideas, you can do what I’m doing in making my site: Learn as you go!
I’m basically building this site page by page. First, I study what I need to learn for a given topic, and take notes while I do. Then, I apply what I’ve learned. And finally, I document this in a webpage. Then, it is on to the next topic.
Now, you might choose to go faster or slower than what I’m doing, and you might choose to add or remove some of the topics, but the results should be the same: LEVERAGED knowledge that is documented for others to learn, and will continue to be referenced for YEARS to come. If done correctly, this should also result in INCOME coming in for years as well!
So, that is my first piece of advice. Don’t get overwhelmed, break things into chunks, and apply and document things as you go.
Secondly, it is important to have some type of goal and intermediate game plan or schedule for yourself. In my case, I have about 30 different sections I want to have separate webpages for, and I want to get this all up in two weeks. That means I need to put up about 2 pages per day. After that, I will continue to post blogs and articles, probably 2 of each per week, until I reach my traffic and income goals.
Again, that may be faster than what you will want to do. The important thing is having your own goals and schedule and deadlines.
Third, to really start getting some pages up very quickly, leverage other peoples’ work. There are many places that you can go to get articles that come with reprint rights. Just do some research on topics that you want to learn about, find some good articles, and copy and paste those to your site. Note that you are ONLY doing this if they state that you have permission to reprint. And, this will always come with the condition that you also include their resource box at the bottome, which will include a link back to their site.
Why do they do this? In order to get more links to their site! This will do two great things for them: get actual visitors to their site, and help boost their search engine rankings. It is a win-win for everyone. Note that this is a strategy that we will be discussing further and in much more detail in Section 2, where we will use this to help YOU get visitors and search engine rankings.
Lastly, you can actually OUTSOURCE the writing of some of your content. Again, using elance.com, you can bid out different projects to other people that might have more experience than you in certain topics, and may just be able to write faster than you. Don’t think that you need to write 100 pages and articles all yourself if that is not your thing. You can outsource writing an artilce for $5 or $10, that you can use as an article on your site, submit to article directories to get visitors and links to your site (covered in Section 2), and use as one of your autoresponder messages as well.
On the next page, we’ll talk quickly about a way to get some content for your site RIGHT NOW, another bonus from me!…
