Personal Development - The Key to Success at ANYTHING
The most important element in attaining any level of long term success with a network marketing opportunity is to maintain a focused, positive mental attitude. If you don’t have this, you simply can’t do this business. So, you better figure out how to cultivate this, or find something else to do! (THE best, most inclusive resource I’ve found online to help with this is Personal Growth from SelfGrowth.com.)
Just as importantly, you need a way to consistently keep up the members of your downline’s attitude as they work on building their businesses and endure the inevitable setbacks. In my opinion, there are three, and only three, ways to deal with this:
1. Have a well-defined vision that you focus on often, and especially during difficult times. (More on this in the NLP & Law of Attraction section.)
2. Keep plugged in to positive and uplifting messages, on a consistent basis.
3. Always maintain realistic expectations. If you expect substantial results too soon, and especially if you begin that way, you WILL be disappointed and disheartened. Worse, if you aren’t prepared for the level of consistent effort that is necessary to achieve success in this business, what would be temporary setbacks and disappointments become the dropping out point for many. Be in this for the long haul, or don’t even bother.
In regards to self improvement itself, I have a few recommendations.
- First, listen to whatever motivational cd’s your company itself provides. These are so critical because it proves to you that your opportunity CAN AND DOES work for others, so it CAN AND WILL work for you too, if you learn the skills you need, apply them, and give them time to work.
- Second, check out the NLP section of this site. Going beyond just motivational messages, this is the technology of behavioral and mental change. It is a now 30+ year old breakthrough in methods of achievement, and in my opinion EVERYONE should know this stuff, it should be taught in our schools.
- Third, buy and listen to general self-improvement CDs. As Brian Tracy says, turn your car into a "university on wheels" while you do your necessary daily driving.
In regards to that last point, I do have some recommendations. Basically, anything that you can get your hands on by Anthony Robbins (Live with Passion! is a good start), Jim Rohn (Take Charge of Your Life is my favorite), or Brian Tracy (How to Master Your Time).
