Online MLM

I just got a great e-mail question from a business building colleague, and I thought I would include it here. The question is one I hear alot: Difficulting in getting anyone to join your MLM business. Here is my answer:

Thanks for writing. I think I can help. It sounds like you are starting from a great point, more advanced than others, and just need to get a few key points down.
 
I have a few questions for you, then I’ll give you some general info, but write back
and I can help you more specifically.
 
First off, my questions:
 
1. What company are you with?
2. What marketing strategies are you using?
3. What are your income goals?
 
 
The biggest thing to know in terms of promoting an MLM online is that you shouldn’t
advertise the MLM directly. Since the payout on any one order is so small, that is the
quickest way to lose money. Plus, that is what most everyone else is doing. You end
up getting lost in the crowd.
 
The trick is to advertise YOURSELF as a leader. The concept is attraction marketing,
attracting others to you personally because you can help them get what they need,
and your MLM is just the particular solution.
 
A great way to do this is using what is called a "funded proposal", which is offering an
educational resource to people that solves a particular problem related to the business
(ie, training on how to prospect, how to market, software resources that they would need,
etc.) This helps establish you as a problem solver in their mind, AND offsets your advertising
expenses while you build up a contact list.

Mike Dillard wrote this, and he is pretty awesome. He makes about
$10,000 to $20,000 every day now, has multiple products and his own training company,
and is one of the top producers in his primary MLM, and also is a top earner in his GPT
business. The $40 Magnetic Sponsoring book has great material about becoming a leader
and attraction marketing, and it gets you into his affiliate program with many other great
products that you can then sell to others also. I recommend and have all of his stuff.

Great phychology principles about sponsoring here. The book is only $27, and you get a
$20 commission for each sale.

This is a great resource for beginning and even seasoned marketers
online. It is a rebrandable attraction marketing system, complete with rebrandable landing
pages, auto-responders pre-written, and some GREAT detailed training on many subjects.
It includes something like 18 funded proposal products that are built right in. You can get
a trial for just $1 to test it, then just $47 per month after that, with $15 monthly commission
to you each month for any sign ups (so sign up 3 and it is free).
 
The great thing about those 3 products is that you can market to ANYONE in an MLM.
These products are what people NEED in order to become successful.

Now, all that being said, Get Paid Today businesses are another great idea to add on top
of your primary MLM. The concept there is that you are paid upfront in a large amount, so
you don’t need people to stay on autoship or have thousands of people to make money.
In my GPT, I get $1,000 per sale, there are residuals on top of that, and the back end
products are worth $5,000 and $9,000 payable to me. (Once they are in the pipeline,
1 out of 3 buy the second product and 1/2 of those buy the third, without me having to do
any extra marketing.)
 
The power with a $1,000 sale is that you don’t even necessarily need a funded proposal.
(ie, if it cost me $100 in advertising to make a $1,000 sale that is great. For an MLM, if it
cost me $100 in advertising to make a $20 monthly commission, and the person only stays
for an average of 3-4 months, that’s a problem and I need to offset the cost somehow.)
 
Just different strategies, can be done either way: MLM alone, GPT alone, or both together.
But without a GPT, you NEED a funded proposal system of some kind.
